UNIVERSAL TRIGGER AND KEEPER’S THUMB SUPPORT
Trigger finger
Trigger thumb, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis, is a painful condition that causes the thumb to catch or lock when bent. Trigger thumb occurs when inflammation narrows the space within the sheath that surrounds the tendon in the affected finger. If trigger thumb is severe, your finger may become locked in a bent position.
Trigger thumb is more common in women than men and tends to happen most often in people who are 40 to 60 years old. Farmers, industrial workers, and musicians often get trigger finger since they repeat finger and thumb movements a lot. Even smokers can get trigger thumb from repeated use of a lighter, for example.
The most common symptom of the trigger thumb is a painful clicking or snapping when bending or straightening the finger. Also, you can observe finger stifness, Tenderness or a bump (nodule) in the palm at the base of the affected finger, finger locking in a bend position which you are unable to straighten. Untreated condition can result in muscle contractions and manual impairment.
In pharmacological as in surgical treatment, the most important is thumb immobilization, mainly during inflammation. In this case, the best choice is our universal Trigger and Keeper’s Thumb Support AM-SP-02.
