Patellofemoral Pain Syndrom is a mild or severe pain in the front of the knee. The pain occurs usually during stair climbing, kneeling or squatting. The pain is visible also in long-term sitting position. PFPS is common among the runners and due to this fact we call it “Runner’s knee”.
The reason of this condition is patellar tracking disorder as a result of: imbalanced quadriceps femoris muscle, injury in the knee area or knee deformation (Valgus knee).
Under normal circumstances, the patella should run smoothly between the two sides of the femur, but with Patellar Maltracking, the patella moves out from its normal position and moves to its sides and starts to rub against the femur which is what causes severe pain and discomfort with any motion of the knee.
Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome is common condition among the athletes. Patella Maltracking is a result of:
- an injury or direct trauma to the patella in contact sports (rugby, American football, football),
- a surgical procedure done around the patellar region (e.g. arthroscopy),
- imbalance with the quadriceps femoris muscle,
- overuse of patellofemoral joint.

Kneecap brace for Patella Alignment OKD-25 is made of anatomic-shaped rigid plastic with four rotating buckles.
The brace has soft, cotton liner that reduces pressure on bony prominences and prevents migration.
The fabric is made of neoprene foam, laminated with polyester and interal elastic cotton terry.
CottonPren™ is innovative and skin-friendly lamination. The devices, made of this material, provide excellent compression, good fitting and absorb shocks in joints and muscles. CottonPren™ is 3-layered spacer fabric consisted of external spandex with neoprene inside. The skin has contact with CottonPlush, providing high air permeability and maintaining the skin dry. this layer is skin-friendly what Oeko-Tex Standard 100 approved.
Rear pivot straps allows to fit brace precisely.
Anatomic design of our brace OKD-25 allows to place patella in proper alignment and to run smoothly. The brace is placed in the tuberosity of the tibia and loosens excessively tight patellar ligament. Rigid elements are around the kneecap and prevent against its maltracking and discloaction.
Four rotating buckles maintain proper anatomical movement and don’t limit the knee range of motion.
The two foam Velcro circles, included with brace, may be attached to the inside of the brace on either side of the knee for additional support and reduce pressure on bony prominences.
Kneecap brace for Patella Alignment OKD-25 is very effective and easy to use. It reduces risk of patella dislocation and maintains the smooth run of patella.
ATTENTION! The brace OKD-25 is initially anatomic shaped. If it is necessary for better fitting, there is possible to use electric heat gun and heat a part of the brace with temperature resistant gloves and fit to patients knee. To do that, recommended temperature is 120-130oC.
ATTENTION! Before heating and molding the brace, there is necessary to remove internal liner. The liner can be attached to brace after finally fitting and cooling the brace.
ATTENTION! There is prohibited to putting the brace on the leg after heating. Molding of the products should be done in the air with temperature resistant gloves. The products can be fitted to User, but only after cooling the brace to ambient temperature.
